Translated by Richard Haydock, who signed the dedication to Sir Thomas Bodley
Engraved t.p. with port. of Lomazzo at head, another of Haydock at foot with his coat of arms. The arms of Oxford University and New College, Oxford, are incorporated in the design; Haydock's dedication is signed from New College. The arms of Winchester College appear at the colophon, together with a large woodcut of the Oxford arms; Haydock attended Winchester (DNB). Thirteen full-page engraved ill. Many head- and tail-pieces made up of printer's ornaments. Azured foliated initials

At center of front pastedown is signature of Henry Chamberlaine, now lined out. Below it is the bookplate of Boies Penrose, depicting "Old East India House," and above it is the armorial bookplate of Boies Penrose II. Centered on front free endpaper recto is Theodore Besterman's calligraphic label, signed in the plate by P.S. Above it is a purchase inscription in brown ink: Bought at y.e unicorn in little Brittany, - 5.. In the upper right-hand corner is the signature T. Kerrich, M.C.C., repeated in the upper right-hand corner of the t.p. (perhaps Thomas Kerrich, 1748-1828, Librarian of Cambridge Univ.)
